Depth Chart: Jordan Fuller Named Starter at Safety, Erick Smith Removed From Lineup for Ohio State Vs. Maryland

Although Jordan Fuller has started every game this season for Ohio State at safety alongside Damon Webb, Erick Smith was still listed as a co-starter at the position on Ohio State's depth chart as of last week.

That's no longer the case. With Smith currently being held out of game action by Ohio State coach Urban Meyer for unspecified reasons, Fuller is now listed as an outright starter at safety alongside Webb, while Smith has been removed from the depth chart.

"Jordan Fuller is playing at a very high level right now," Meyer said during his Monday press conference, when he also said that Smith needs to "handle his business."

Redshirt freshman safety Wayne Davis has taken Smith's place on the two-deep as Fuller's backup.

Other notes from Ohio State's updated depth chart, which can be found below, as the Buckeyes prepare to play Maryland:

• With Dre'Mont Jones out this week due to a leg injury, no starter is listed as the 3-technique defensive tackle position where Jones typically starts. Jalyn Holmes, who started at the position in Jones' place last week, is still listed as a co-starter at defensive end. While Jashon Cornell is listed on the top row of this week's depth chart in Jones' place, his name is not bolded like those players who are considered starters.
• Sean Nuernberger is now listed as Ohio State's starter on kickoffs, with Blake Haubeil now backing him up.
• Tuf Borland is still listed with an "OR" designation as a possible starter at middle linebacker although Chris Worley is probable to return this week from a sprained foot.
• Demetrius Knox remains absent from the depth chart despite playing left guard with the second-team offense in each of the Buckeyes' last three games. Matthew Burrell is listed as the second-team left guard despite playing right guard with the second-team offense in his return from injury last week against Rutgers. 
• True freshmen Josh Myers, Wyatt Davis and Tate Martell are still listed on the depth chart although they have not played this season and are expected to redshirt.
• Antonio Williams, who was listed as a co-third-team running back on the depth chart with Demario McCall, is not included on this week's depth chart after missing last week's game with an undisclosed medical issue.
