Ohio State commit Jaelen Gill, a five-star running back from Westerville South, has agreed to give Eleven Warriors exclusive access into his senior season with the Wildcats.

He'll join us every Friday with a notebook entry sharing everything from his thoughts on his play to who he's recruiting on behalf of the Buckeyes.

Gill's latest entry was submitted just hours before Westerville South's crosstown rivalry game against Westerville Central on Thursday night. He returned from a hamstring injury and rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown in a 42-35 loss, which dropped the Wildcats to 4-5 on the season.

Down to the wire, two games left.

Last week, our rivalry game against Westerville North lived up to the hype as usual. No matter how good or bad either team is doing in the season, that game is always emotional and hard fought!

Luckily, we came out on the winning side, 33-30, and it came down to the wire. Our senior class is 4-0 in that game.

I sat out that game. Missing that game two years in a row is so frustrating and disappointing, but I cheered my team on and they fought hard. I am so proud of my boys!

As usual, the score went back and forth. Our outside linebacker had a nice pick-six and our quarterback had a good game with three touchdown passes. Unfortunately, we lost our outside linebacker for the rest of the season in that game with an injury that happened on our fake punt attempt.

I know the disappointment he feels in missing out these last games of our senior year. He is a valuable part of our team and will definitely be missed. Prayers up for him!

We have another cross-town rivalry game tonight against Westerville Central and need this win to remain play off eligible. Just like our other rivalry game, this will be a hard fought game. The atmosphere will be crazy and it is televised. I’m excited to play, still recovering from this hamstring strain, which is annoying! My class has never won this game, so winning would be special for multiple reasons.

Ohio State is on an off week, so hopefully the extra time for preparation and rest will help against their next game against Penn State. I’m getting really anxious and excited for that game, as I’m sure all of Buckeye Nation is. It’s always a crazy atmosphere and I can’t wait to see the uniforms!

I’m hoping that the weekly progress we’ve seen with the team translates in that game. No matter what, I know it will be exciting.

Next week will be a pretty emotional week. My last regular season game at home and senior night. Then, the next morning ACT before heading to the Penn State game.

I want to wish my team good luck tonight. Play hard and as a team, but also make sure to enjoy this game. I love all my brothers.

Let’s get it! Go Cats!
