Ohio State commit Jaelen Gill, a five-star running back from Westerville South, has agreed to give Eleven Warriors exclusive access into his senior season with the Wildcats.

He'll join us every Friday with a notebook entry sharing everything from his thoughts on his play to who he's recruiting on behalf of the Buckeyes.

Gill's latest entry comes just hours before Westerville South's game at Upper Arlington. The Wildcats are 1-2, but to no fault of Gill's, as he scored twice in last weekend's loss to Hilliard Darby.

Week 3 was a battle for us.

I felt loose in warm ups. Confident. The weather was great, perfect for football. The game was back-and-forth and physical. I had a good first half with two touchdowns — one rushing and one receiving, with 126 receiving yards. We made stops in the crunch time in the 4th quarter, but just couldn’t score.

Saturday morning, I had team film at school and then watched some of the junior varsity game. I was excited as we were getting ready to head to the ‘Shoe, looking forward to seeing coaches, the team and recruits.

We arrived at the Blackwell and recruits joined the team for their team meeting and to watch the pregame hype video. After, we walked over to the Skull Session. The energy is always amazing in there. It’s loud and the fans show so much love to the team and coaches and the band.

We walked back to the 'Shoe to the recruit room to eat, we had barbecue and banana pudding. I got to meet a few ‘19 recruits and talk about why I had committed to Ohio State. We were down on the sidelines pregame and watched warm ups.

The atmosphere was great, it was awesome to see J.K. Dobbins' first touchdown. Our secondary and offense struggled. The loss hurt, especially at home. The commits and I talked to are excited to get there. That game didn’t change a thing!

There’s been some social media distraction involving recruits and we’ve [the commits] discussed among ourselves on how to handle it.

This week is a big week for us at South, we’re hoping to bounce back against Upper Arlington. We’ve had a good week of practice and we’re hoping it translates to the field.

Go Cats! Go Bucks!
