Ohio State’s first of three seven-on-seven tournaments featured two big-name 2027 stars at wide receiver.
Five-star Ohio State commit Jamier Brown dominated for Wayne, while five-star OSU target Dakota Guerrant made his second trip to Columbus in five days from Michigan and stood out for Harper Woods High School.
Brown is the No. 1 wideout in the 2027 class, while Guerrant is No. 4, per 247Sports’ composite rankings. It was Brown’s second time working out at OSU this week, as the 5-foot-11, 170-pound speedster also showcased his ability at the Buckeyes’ recruiting camp on Monday.
Guerrant played both ways for most of the day, proving his strength as a two-way player. In both pool play and in the playoffs, teams were unable to cover Guerrant, as he hauled in touchdown after touchdown.
"Ohio State is Wide Receiver U," Guerrant said Wednesday. "They put guys in the NFL, they're close (to home), they win, they have everything."
Eleven Warriors will have more on Guerrant’s recruitment in the coming days.
Justice Fitzpatrick shuts down his recruitment
Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve experienced one of the greatest examples of how chaotic modern recruiting can be in a matter of days.
Eight days ago, four-star Florida cornerback Justice Fitzpatrick committed to Georgia following his official visit. On Sunday, Fitzpatrick announced he would still visit Ohio State this week despite his commitment to the Bulldogs. That lasted all of two days before Fitzpatrick announced he had shut down his recruitment and won’t take any other visits.
Sometimes you gotta just shrug your shoulders and accept the new era of recruiting, more or less.
Anyway, the Buckeyes would still like to add another cornerback for the 2026 class to pair alongside Jakob Weatherspoon and Jordan Thomas, and we’ll see if Tim Walton can pull off that feat this summer or take that task to the fall and evaluate a group of senior prospects. Four-star Florida cornerback Danny Odem could be an option for Walton and may take an official visit to OSU this week.
Emanuel Ruffin to commit on July 4
Ohio State landed a key defensive line target on Tuesday evening, as four-star defensive end Khary Wilder committed to the Buckeyes late in the evening. It was Larry Johnson’s first commit of the 2026 cycle.
He’s hoping to add plenty more by the time the summer concludes.
Johnson will get an answer from four-star Alabama defensive tackle Emanuel Ruffin soon as he has set a decision date for July 4.
Had An Great Official Visit at @OhioStateFB They definitely made a statement pic.twitter.com/3yiBIjeX6J

Ruffin will choose from Ohio State, LSU, Texas, Alabama and Georgia. He took his official visit with the Buckeyes last weekend and has trips scheduled to LSU and Alabama ahead of his commitment. There’s no clear leader for Ruffin at the moment, so we’ll see how hard Johnson and company push for his commitment next month depending on how the rest of official visit season goes.
Mack Sutter down to four teams
Ohio State’s top remaining tight end target has narrowed down his recruitment to four teams.
According to Rivals, four-star Illinois tight end Mack Sutter has eliminated Penn State from his five finalists and will choose from a group consisting of Ohio State, Alabama, Illinois and Ole Miss.
Sutter visited OSU on May 30 and was expected to visit the Nittany Lions last weekend, but he never made the trip. He’ll be at Illinois on June 18 before wrapping up his visit schedule with Alabama on June 20.
Coming into the summer, Alabama was seen as the favorite in this recruitment, but Ohio State impressed Sutter enough on his visit to make this a contested recruitment. We’ll see if the Buckeyes can maintain that momentum when Sutter takes his official visit to Tuscaloosa.
