Ohio State wide receiver commit Jeremiah Smith is now considered the No. 1 player in the country by 247Sports.

The five-star prospect was anointed the top player in the 2024 class by the recruiting network when it released its updated rankings on Thursday. Smith moved up one spot, from No. 2 to No. 1, supplanting former Ohio State quarterback commit Dylan Raiola. Raiola had been the network’s top prospect since April 2022.

Smith had already been the No. 1 player nationally in the 247Sports composite rankings, but of the four major recruiting networks (247Sports, On3, ESPN and Rivals), 247Sports is the first to put Smith in the No. 1 spot in its own rankings.

If Smith finishes the year ranked No. 1 in 247Sports' rankings, it would be the first time in the network’s 14-year history that a wide receiver finishes the year as the No. 1 overall player in its recruiting rankings for a class.

Other OSU commits seeing leaps in 247Sports’ network for the 2024 class include Justin Scott (No. 7 from No. 22), Eddrick Houston (No. 25 from No. 28) and Jeremiah McClellan (No. 70 from No. 91). Mylan Graham (ranked No. 26), Aaron Scott (No. 38) and Air Noland (No. 57) are also featured within 247Sports’ top 100.
