After a big recruiting weekend at Ohio State, the Buckeyes have extended three more offers to recruits in the 2024 class and one from the 2025 class.

Let’s delve into each of them.

KingJoseph Edwards

For the last two months, defensive line coach Larry Johnson has expressed interest in four-star Georgia defensive lineman KingJoseph Edwards. His recruiting billing is only one-upped by his name, as he’s ranked as the 72nd-best player in the 2024 cycle per 247Sports’ composite rankings. He took his first visit to Columbus this weekend, and was offered by Ohio State on Saturday.

Ryan Day and Johnson both presented the offer to Edwards.

“I was very excited,” Edwards told Eleven Warriors of receiving the offer on Saturday. “I was surprised because I didn’t think they were going to offer me. Coach Johnson told me after I still needed to improve, I just can’t sit around and not get better at my game. Coach Day told me he was excited for me being there and that I should come back for a camp this summer and work one-on-one with coach Johnson.”

Edwards said he will indeed camp at Ohio State this June, as he’s already scheduled his next visit to Columbus to attend one of OSU’s recruiting camps and work with Johnson.

“He likes that I’m fast and explosive,” Edwards said of Johnson. “He also likes my physicality when I’m trying to get the ball.”

While Edwards plays both tight end and on the defensive line, OSU is primarily recruiting him as a defensive lineman or outside linebacker. Other schools have offered Edwards with the intention of having him play tight end at the next level. The 6-foot-5, 242-pound prospect said he does not have a preference what position he plays in college.

Other visits Edwards plans on taking this spring include Alabama, Texas and Texas A&M. At the moment, he holds 18 Division I offers, which includes Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida State, Nebraska and Ole Miss. He did not root for a particular college growing up and insists his recruitment is still pretty open at the moment. Edwards does not have an established commitment timeline yet, either.

Anthony Speca

Ohio State extended an offer to 2024 four-star Pennsylvania linebacker Anthony Speca on Saturday while he was on an unofficial visit in Columbus.

Speca currently has 12 Division I offers, including Notre Dame, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Maryland, Michigan and Cincinnati. According to On3’s consensus ratings, Speca is rated as a four-star prospect and as the 192nd-best prospect and the 19th-best linebacker in the 2024 cycle.

In nine games for Central Catholic High School (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) last season, Speca racked up 70 tackles (3 for loss), one sack and one fumble recovery.

Martavious Collins

Four-star 2024 Georgia tight end Martavious Collins received an offer from Ohio State on Sunday.

Collins has racked up eight Division I offers, a list that also includes Georgia, Georgia Tech, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, UCF and Western Kentucky. Like Edwards, Collins plays both defensive line and tight end, but seeing as Kevin Wilson is his primary recruiter from OSU, it appears the Buckeyes are recruiting Collins as a tight end.

In nine games for Rome High School (Rome, Georgia) last season, Collins caught 21 passes for 268 yards and one touchdown.

Zayden Walker

The Buckeyes made another offer to a Georgia prospect on Monday to 2025 linebacker Zayden Walker

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker has five Division I offers, the others being NC State, LSU, Florida State and Georgia. He is the first linebacker the Buckeyes have offered in the 2025 cycle.

In 12 games last season for Schley County (Ellaville, Georgia), Walker recorded 39 tackles (16 for loss), 4.5 sacks, seven pass deflections and two fumble recoveries.

Pettaway, Hall, Burley put OSU on top school lists

While four underclassman prospects received Ohio State offers, three 2023 Buckeye targets included Ohio State on updated top schools lists over the weekend: Four-star Texas wideout Jaquaize Pettaway, four-star Florida defensive lineman Jordan Hall and five-star Georgia defensive lineman Vic Burley.

Pettaway put OSU in his top 10 along with Texas, Georgia, Ole Miss, TCU, Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, Houston and Cincinnati. He is ranked as the 48th-best player and the ninth-best wideout in the 2023 cycle.

Hall included the Buckeyes in his top 12 in addition to Michigan State, Alabama, Miami, Oregon, USC, Georgia, Florida State, Florida, Michigan, Clemson and South Carolina. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound prospect is considered the 300th-best player nationally and the 47th-best defensive lineman.

Burley put Ohio State on a top 12 list that also includes Oregon, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Clemson, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Florida State, Tennessee and Oklahoma. The 6-foot-5, 276-pound standout is considered the 35th-best player and the fifth-best defensive lineman in 2023.
