Every weekend in the fall, thousands of high school football teams line up and take their shot at prep glory. The morning Prep Tracker is your final stop for the names, numbers and scores that mattered to Ohio State's recruiting efforts.

NOT THE RESULT THEY WERE LOOKING FOR

Put simply, Lake Travis (Texas) doesn't lose many ballgames. The Cavaliers, 2019 Ohio State commit Garrett Wilson's bunch, entered Friday night having won 15 of their last 16 games. So that's why a 44-14 loss to rival Westlake was a bit of a surprise.

Nevertheless, Wilson still came to play as he was responsible for both Lake Travis scores. The senior wideout caught seven passes for 70 yards and added a 101-yard kickoff return.

From the Austin American-Statesman:

Wilson, one of the state’s top recruits and the No.1-ranked prospect in the Statesman’s Fab 55 list, who is pledged to Ohio State, ended the game with 70 yards on seven receptions and scored the Cavs’ only two touchdowns on a 41-yard reception off a flea-flicker in the first quarter and 101-yard kickoff return in the third quarter.

“Garrett is obviously an amazing player, and we made it a priority to shut him down,” Westlake's Nate Webster said. “We let off a lot of our blitzes because we knew if we could limit those explosive plays, we’d have a chance to win the game.”

Wilson wasn't the only Ohio State commit to play in a loss Friday night. Mentor, Ohio's No. 2 ranked team in Division I, fell to Solon 29-28. The Cardinals feature two future Buckeyes in offensive tackle Ryan Jacoby and defensive end Noah Potter. Mentor scored on plays of four, nine, 15 and 20 yards but when Solon scored in overtime, the Comest tried for two and stunned the state's No. 2 ranked team.

Elsewhere, Oak Park (Mich.) quarterback Dwan Mathis was the exception of the group. Mathis had an uncharacteristic night in a 27-21 loss, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The Ohio State bound quarterback didn’t play well against the Lakers. He made some bad reads on running plays, underthrew receivers and lost his cool a couple of times.

The Knights have a tough game at Clarkston next week and with their goal of finishing the regular season undefeated, Mathis and head coach Greg Carter must get the entire team to refocus.

Also in the 2019 class, safety Bryson Shaw and The Bullis School (Potomac, Md.) — Dwayne Haskins' alma mater — fell to Landon by a 7-6 final. It's the Bulldogs' second loss in the past three weeks.

A pair of 2020 Ohio State commits — Chaparral (Scottsdale, Az.) teammates Jack Miller and Darvon Hubbard — also saw their team fall in a 42-24 final to Mountain Pointe (Az.). Miller, however, had a good night throwing for 235 yards and three touchdowns. It's the Firebirds' third loss in the past three weeks.

THE GOOD NEWS ...

Blessed Trinity Catholic's (Roswell, Ga.) Steele Chambers had another big night on the ground. The 2019 four-star running back ran for 113 yards on 24 carries, and made six tackles on the defensive side of the ball, in a 21-20 overtime win over Flowery Branch.

Chambers now has 745 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 92 carries, an average of 8.1 yards per carry. He's also caught four passes for 39 yards and a score while tallying 31 tackles, 5 1/2 for a loss.

Lexington's Cade Stover continued to carry the Minutemen to wins. The senior scored three touchdowns on offense and had an interception on defense in a 43-36 victory over Ashland. Up front, Buford (Ga.) lineman Harry Miller helped his team grab a 27-0 lead after on quarter of play in an eventual 43-0 win, and Spring Valley (Huntington, W. Va.) lineman Doug Nester aide his team to scoring plays of 57, 22, 25 and 99 yards in a 60-6 victory.

Cardinal Ritter Prep (St. Louis, Mo.) receiver Jameson Williams had a regular night for himself. After last week's jaw-dropping performance, the four-star receiver made nine catches for 148 yards and two touchdowns Friday night in a 46-6 win.

Fort Wayne's (Ind.) Craig Young also had a big night, leading his team to a 14-13 victory. Young made three catches for 92 yards and a touchdown while adding 17 kick return yards to the mix.

Elsewhere in the 2019 class, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) safety Jordan Battle helped his team pitch a 49-0 shutout, and DePaul Catholic (Wayne, N.J.) all-purpose back Ronnie Hickman had a 16-yard touchdown reception in a 44-19 win.

Whitehaven (Tenn.) and tight end commit Cormontae Hamilton had a bye week.

Winning in the 2020 class were three offensive linemen: St. Xavier's Paris Johnson Jr., St. Joseph Regional's (Montvale, N.J.) Luke Wypler and Marietta's (Ga.) Jake Wray.

Johnson's Bombers beat Clarkson Football North by a 38-19 score, Wypler's Green Knights topped Don Bosco Prep 31-10 and Wray's Blue Devils earned a 28-27 victory over McEachern.
