Supreme '18 Tracker: Taron Vincent, IMG Get Best of Teradja Mitchell, Bishop Sullivan While K’Vaughan Pope Helps Dinwiddie Remain Undefeated

Before descending upon Columbus, the members of Ohio State's Supreme '18 recruiting class have one final shot at glory under the Friday night lights.

THE BEST OF THE BEST

Despite entering Saturday’s game at IMG Academy with a 5-4 record, Bishop Sullivan was considered the among the top-ranked teams in Virginia — its international schedule being one of the county’s toughest.

The Crusaders’ 48-0 loss to the Ascenders on Saturday night, though, shows they’ve still got a ways to go before they’re among the nation’s best, too.

IMG quarterback and Minnesota three-star commit threw for 214 yards and four touchdowns in the first half, while backup Artur Sitkowski — a four-star Rutgers pledge — added a rushing score before the half to make it 34-0 at the half. This coming one year after Bishop Sullivan held a fourth-quarter lead, only to fall to the Ascenders, 16-6.

Ohio State linebacker commit Teradja Mitchell led the Crusaders with seven tackles in the loss. The team closes its season at home next Saturday against Massachusetts’ Riverdale Baptist.

IMG, meanwhile, capped its third-consecutive undefeated season by winning its 37th-straight game, a streak that began in 2014.

TITLE FAVORITES

Just hours before he boarded a plane to take his official visit to Ohio State, four-star linebacker commit K’Vaughan Pope helped Dinwiddie rout Huguenot, 54-20, in the first round of the Virginia High School League playoffs.

Pope’s younger brother, junior Ky’mon, led the Generals offensively from the quarterback position. He completed four passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 13 times for 136 yards and two more scores.

Dinwiddie put the game away for good in the third quarter, as it scored 28 unanswered. Among the four touchdowns, a 15-yard fumble return by the elder Pope.

The Generals will now face Eastern View in the VHSL 4A East quarterfinals.

A PREMATURE ENDING

After also completing an undefeated regular season — one in which Hurricane Irma back in September forced the postponement of several games on the schedule — Ohio State four-star cornerback commit Sevyn Banks was hoping to cap his career with a state title.

Cardinal Gibbons had other ideas, however, as it knocked off Orlando Jones, 43-30, in the first round of the Florida High School Athletic Association 5A playoffs.

The Fightin’ Tigers took an early lead on an 80-yard strike on the first play from scrimmage, but the Chiefs rattled off 20 unanswered and never looked back. The former played catch-up from there.

Banks, who rarely saw the ball thrown his way all year, was not targeted all game.
