Ohio State didn't play with its horse meat dinner on Thursday night.

The Buckeyes unsaddled the Broncos with time to spare in the first half, a 31-7 extended run giving them a 25-point lead with just 15 minutes of game time behind them.

Ohio State (5-0) demolished Western Michigan (2-4) 91-58 on Thursday night, building on its early-season momentum both on the court and on the recruiting trail.

Scoring was a joint effort for the Buckeyes as five of them finished in double-figures against the Broncos. Center Christoph Tilly led the way with 17 points, guards John Mobley Jr. and Bruce Thornton picked up 15 and 11, forward Devin Royal finished with 10 and freshman forward Amare Bynum enjoyed a career-high 12-point outing. Bynum and Royal each also grabbed 10 rebounds for double-doubles.

A pair of two-handed slams from Brandon Noel got Ohio State going early, the latter triggering an 8-0 run entirely fueled by finishes at the rim. The Buckeyes have had some slow starts this year, but not the case against the Broncos as they galloped to an early 15-4 lead.

Western Michigan hit a few 3-pointers to cut the lead back to 18-12, but Ohio State responded with a volcanic 17-0 run featuring five points from Mobley, including a swished 3-pointer. He had 10 points in the first 11 minutes of the contest. Freshman Amare Bynum added five points during the stretch while Tilly drilled a triple in transition. It launched the extended 31-7 run from Ohio State.

A ridiculous alley-oop flush by Bynum off a feed from Royal pushed the lead to 41-14 a few minutes later. Almost 24 minutes remained in the game, but it already felt like a stamp on an Ohio State victory. Triples from Thornton and Chatman amplified the feeling. The Buckeyes carried a 49-24 lead into halftime.

A 9-0 run spurred by two buckets from Tilly, one on a coast-to-coast layup following a steal he collected, made it a 62-28 Ohio State lead at the first media timeout of the second half. Much of the rest of the final 20 minutes was dominated by Buckeye backups.

Center Ivan Njegovan and guard Gabe Cupps each added three points as part of an 11-0 run that pushed the Buckeye edge to 43 points at 73-30. The lead never dropped below 35 from there.

Ohio State will aim for a 6-0 start to its season against Mount Saint Mary's on Tuesday. Tipoff is at 6:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
