For the first time since 2022, Ohio State and North Carolina will battle in the CBS Sports Classic.

According to Adam Jardy of The Columbus Dispatch, the Buckeyes and Tar Heels will face off in the annual four-team showdown. The other matchup includes Kentucky and St. John's, which has replaced UCLA in the event.

Ohio State and North Carolina last faced off in the 2022 CBS Sports Classic. The Tar Heels defeated the Buckeyes 89-84 in overtime at Madison Square Garden. While the location of the 2025 CBS Sports Classic has yet to be confirmed, The Dispatch reported that the event will occur somewhere in the Eastern Time Zone.

This past season, Ohio State upset No. 4 Kentucky 85-65 in Madison Square Garden during the 2024 CBS Sports Classic. The Buckeyes closed out their 20-point win minutes before the football team demolished Tennessee, 42-17, in the College Football Playoff.

Ohio State is 6-4 all-time in the CBS Sports Classic. The Buckeyes are 0-3 all-time against the Tar Heels, including losses in 2014 (82-74), 2017 (86-72) and 2022.

North Carolina is one of two non-conference opponents currently on Ohio State's schedule, as the Buckeyes also have plans to conclude a home-and-home series with Pitt. On Thursday, the Big Ten announced its conference schedules for the upcoming season, with Ohio State set to face Michigan, Wisconsin and Penn State twice and 14 other schools once.
