Chris Holtmann held his first press conference since April on Monday and media members got a live look at 20 minutes of Ohio State practice at the Schottenstein Center.

Holtmann previewed the Buckeyes’ trip to the Bahamas and issued injury updates for several players, noting that veteran forwards Justice Sueing and Seth Towns are still “somewhat limited” in practice and won’t suit up in Ohio State’s upcoming exhibition games this weekend. Holtmann also said third-year guard Eugene Brown may be on a minutes restriction as the Buckeyes take on the Egyptian and Puerto Rican national teams during their summer trip.

All three players participated in warmups and shootaround drills during the first portion of Ohio State’s Monday practice, though, and didn’t appear particularly labored in their movements. Sueing missed all but two games due to a hernia last year and Towns missed the full season after undergoing back surgery in the offseason.

Sueing sported a noticeably bigger frame at practice, while junior center Zed Key appeared trimmer than ever before as the Buckeyes got up and down the court. Holtmann said Key has worked on his outside shooting this offseason, and the big man didn’t have much trouble knocking down 3-pointers with ease during warmups.

We got our first look at Ohio State’s five true freshmen and three transfer portal additions in scarlet and gray, and you can check out several clips from what we saw below.
