James is ranked as the No. 129 overall player, the No. 20 shooting guard and No. 13 prospect in California in the recruiting class of 2025, per 247Sports’ composite rankings.
He played for Sierra Canyon High School last season before transferring to Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, for his junior year.
Ohio State also served as a major player in the recruitment of Bronny James, Bryce James' older brother, who was a five-star prospect in the class of 2023. Bronny James visited Columbus but ultimately signed with USC.
Bryce James is expected to be inside Ohio Stadium for Ohio State’s football game against Maryland, which is set for a noon kickoff on Saturday.
