At this time last week, Ohio State had zero commitments in the 2018 recruiting class. Now, the Buckeyes have three.

Four-star guard Luther Muhammad became the third 2018 prospect to commit to Chris Holtmann this week, joining Jaedon LeDee and Duane Washington, on Friday.

The Muhammad File

  • Class: 2018
  • Size: 6-foot-4, 185 pounds
  • Pos: Shooting Guard
  • School: Hudson Catholic (Jersey City, N.J.)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★★
  • Composite Rank: 14 (2018 SG)

Muhammad, a 6-foot-4, 185 pound shooting guard is now the highest-rated Ohio State commit in the 2018 class. According to 247Sports, Muhammad is the No. 71 overall prospect in the country. In the same rankings, LeDee is ranked at No. 112 overall while Washington sits at No. 292.

The three commitments this week, all from out-of-state prospects, come after a long stretch of failing to land in-state recruits.

Torrence Watson, who committed to Ohio State in July, decommitted just more than a month later. The Buckeyes have also missed out on the top-five in-state targets Dane Goodwin (Notre Dame), Darius Bazley (Syracuse), Jerome Hunter (Indiana), Pete Nance (Northwestern) and Dwayne Cohill (Dayton) since making a change in leadership and hiring Holtmann in early June.

Ohio State is set to host Versailles, Ohio, native Justin Ahrens this weekend. Ahrens, a three-star small forward, has narrowed his list down to the Buckeyes, Michigan and Xavier.
