Yahoo! Sports (among others) reported that the NFL's competition committee was considering a rule change to give the referees discretion to us a Red Card (a la soccer) to eject players from a football game.

These are the types of fouls that will feed into the proposed two-strikes-and-you're-out rule: throwing a punch or kicking (even if no contact is made); using abusive or threatening language or gestures; baiting or taunting acts. Basically, the league wants to curtail the kind of unruly behavior that winds up on Vines.
