Since I had a front row seat to Arthur Smith's coaching style, I wanted to share some of my thoughts. This was during the 2019 season, so it's a little dated, but I wanted to share anyway.

Let me start with some negatives.
- Very laid back interpersonal style. Like, almost catatonic. Did not inspire any fear in the players, players not worried about getting benched.
- Basically the same pre-game speech each week. A little easy to tune out.
- Rotations felt arbitrary. I couldn't figure out who was getting in and when. Some end of game management issues.

Positives:
- Truly first rate person. Friendly to all the families. Let my other son serve as an "assistant coach" for a couple of games, even though players thought it was a little weird.
- Players loved him. Lots of hugs.
- Managed the transition from post-game into snack really seamlessly.

I should probably mention here that Arthur was coaching my son's co-ed four-year old soccer team, which his daughter was on. My one and only relevant takeaway was that he's a really good dude, who somehow managed to coach his young kid's soccer team while being OC for the Titans. And yes everything above is true. Excited to have him leading the Buckeye offense!
