5 out of the 6 conference championships games includes a newcomer.   

AAC: Army

ACC: SMU

Big 12: Arizona State

Big Ten: Oregon

SEC: Texas

The  Mountain West did not add any teams to the conference last year. So, every conference that expanded has one new school playing for the conference title. It will be interesting if the new schools can win their new conference championship in year 1. So far Army has pulled it off. Going into the conference championship games, all the newcomers are ranked higher than their opponents.  What makes this even more interesting is that each school essentially moved into a tougher conference than their previous one.
