I do not condone violence or fighting in sports, who does? The fight yesterday was part of the continuing lack of respect in sports, and is modeled after major league players, who can for the most part, act totally disrespectful to officials and opposing players. Many writers around the country have blamed the Buckeyes for inciting the fight. Isn't that condoning or accepting the recent narratives of disrespect to opponents? Has anyone noticed how much players at the collegiate level are now getting away with after even the most routine of plays. I'm all for celebrating, but it is getting out of hand and will eventually spill over to more fighting and probable fan interaction. League offices need to act now, I don't think professional sports will disallow, but it's not too late for colleges. First, ban any actions such as flag planting or similar physical gestures/actions. Use suspensions and if it's a player's last game of eligibility, charge him with unruly conduct. Players and coaches need to be reminded that enforcement of vulgar or criminal gestures will be flagged, and enforce it.
