Not saying what I want to happen or not happen, just what probably will happen. Obviously the fallout from this loss is enormous, but I think Ryan Day survives because of his buyout and also potentially landing the no. 1 recruiting class. But, with a pretty short leash.
I'm going to say all of the coaches survive, but Larry Johnson retires. Seems like a good year to transition. I could see Chip moving on to another HC job at a small school, but probably he stays one more year.
Julian Sayin becomes QB1, DB stays because he just loves OSU, Lincoln and Air transfer.
Probably stay young at RB with Peoples, SW-D and the freshmen, and pay whatever you have to pay to keep Smith, Inniss and Tate.
So, the OL - likely need an LT in the portal if possible, otherwise you're looking at Fitzpatrick, Siereveld, Hinzman, Tegra, Moore as your starting 5. I personally think Moore will be an upgrade over Fryar. Don't really know anything about Fitz. Maybe Luke M. wins a starting spot, but given he's not playing now seems unlikely unless he can bump out to tackle.
Defense should be good again, I'm cool with Curry-Houston-Moore-Jackson and Reese-Styles-Powers in the front 7. I'm guessing CJ Hicks transfers. Just doesn't seem like he's going to play here. If Houston stays inside, that's probably a good move and you have a nice rotation with Kanu and McDonald inside and Mickens-Kirks outside, but maybe add a portal DE if possible.
The secondary is set and you have to keep Downs, the top priority after Smith. That gives you Mathews and Calvin S-H outside with Downs and Hartford at S. Aaron Scott becomes the nickel.
Will we win our first game against Texas? I'm predicting Quinn Ewers goes to the draft, and Arch is the starter next season. It will be another top 5 tester for Ryan Day. Nice matchup of Manning v. Sayin.
