With 11 conference titles and two national championships since 2000, the Buckeyes have put together an impressive 23-year run. Great teams come with exceptional individual players, and there have been too many that have come through Columbus to count.

This exercise is meant to recognize the guys that helped shape the modern era of Ohio State football, but who did so rather silently.

Let's run through some of the many viable candidates. Perhaps you're impartial to players that left campus with a ring, but got overshadowed by bigger stars. Dustin Fox and Doran Grant certainly fall into this category.

Then there are the Buckeyes that posted monster numbers and went undefeated against Michigan, but have still somehow fallen through the cracks. Names that come to mind are Vernon Gholston – who quietly held Ohio State's single-season sack record until Chase Young broke it in 2019 – and Antonio Pittman, who turned out the lights on the Wolverines in the "Game of the Century" in 2006.

Of course, we can't forget the guys that gave absolutely everything they had to the program. Revered leader Christian Bryant was one of the few players that stuck it out through three different head coaches, and Wyatt Davis risked injury - and ultimately damaged his draft stock when he did get hurt - to return in 2020 and pursue a ring.

As difficult as it may seem to choose, only one player can earn the title of the ultimate unsung hero. Who do you believe has been the most underappreciated Buckeye since the turn of the century?
