Zach Smith, Kirk Barton, and Kris Drew together at Yogi's on Henderson. What could go wrong?

It seems like every couple of months, something controversial happens with people who talk about OSU Football for a living. It could be legal, criminal, both, or in this case, childish and petty.

Apparently, everything went wrong last Friday night (1/13) because OSU's Sports Information Director (SID) was in the establishment with a well known credentialed beat writer. Kris went over to the two and tried to make conversation. The SID shook hands but things went south with the beat writer after he refused to shake Kris' hand and rejected a photo op with all three.

On Monday, after Zach's podcast described the interaction, the beat writer reached out to Kris and apparently all is well. On that Monday podcast, Zach said that that his players had a weird vibe with the beat writer and commented that he may be racist. After thinking it over for a night, he said on the Tuesday show that he was just joking about the racist part.   He also made clear that the doxxing of the SID and beat writer on Twitter was only after Kris got dissed. The real question, is why make a joke like that and why post that the pair were at Yogi's at all?

The beat writer said he was wary of the interaction after seeing Zach and Kirk sitting together. Who could blame the beat writer?  The scandalmongers have been critical (beat writer's words, not mine) of him in the past so how on earth could he believe Kris' intentions to be good?

Because of this incident and several other past public disturbances, it appears that Ohio is considering an addition to their Alert program. The program of course consists of Amber, Silver, and Blue.  The new addition would be Orange for anytime Zach and Kirk are together in a public place in order to properly alert Central Ohio citizens.

You can watch Zach Stern and Kris Quivers' account of the incident on their Monday and Tuesday (1/16-17) YouTube shows. Yes, the one with the name derived from the 1993 teen drama movie set in Crenshaw---and a show that Zach describes as an "Entertainment and Analysis venue."
