Justin Fields’ second NFL season is over.
The former Ohio State quarterback has been ruled out of the Chicago Bears’ season finale due to a hip strain. The injury is not considered to be long-term, but the Bears will hold him out for their final game of the season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday to preserve his health.

As a result, Fields will finish the season 64 yards short of breaking the NFL’s single-season record for quarterback rushing yards. Fields has rushed for 1,143 yards this season, the second-most ever for an NFL quarterback behind only Lamar Jackson, who ran for 1,206 yards in 2019.
From a passing standpoint, Fields remained inconsistent in his second NFL season but showed progress, completing 60.4 percent of his attempts for 2,242 yards (7.1 yards per attempt) with 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
