I come to you now at the turn of the tide.
What if I told you that there is a legit way to go back in time and erase these last two games against Michigan? Yeah, they were bad, but, what if they had no meaning? If no one cares, they never happened, right?
If we were to (beep, beep, beep) back our way into the playoffs, we likely gain access to a scarlet and gray DeLorean. How? Easy, if we eliminate Michigan from the playoffs, that game forgives all the wrongs that we committed in our last two meetings. How sweet would that be! At that point, yeah, they won the last two meaningless meetings and we won the one that really mattered! Remember, the “playoff committee” always reshuffles at the end of the year to get the matchups that they want. So, you have to figure that they would be salivating over an OSU/UM rematch given, unbelievable TV ratings and the possible additions of healthy Blake Corum and JSN.
Now, not only is messing with the time stream a dangerous proposition in itself, but time machines are difficult to come by and costly to use. Can we get to 1.21 gigawatts to power the flux capacitor on our own? No way, we need either the Kansas State’s or Utah’s to take out the Libyans for us. We will likely need to cut a little weight to get to 88 MPH, I am thinking like cut the gimmick defenses and play more zone. Might have to shed some East/West passing game en leu of direct downfield passing. Maybe Mike Vrabel or Chris Ash are available to tune this thing up a bit (you know, like letting our DBs know that they are allowed to turn around and see the football?)
Now, don’t get me wrong, time travel is dangerous! We are hoping the last two pictures in our mind start to disappear and change to another “Michigan man surrender Cobra.” But, yes, there is danger involved, a healthy Blake Corum would not make things easier and three losses in 14 months is an option on the table. But remember, we are playing with House money at this point — nothing to lose and no one expects anything from us. Could another loss make us feel any worse than we do now?
If Kansas State wins the BIG 12, and Ohio State slides in ahead of TCU with little to no expectations, what year does that remind you of? Time travel may be a reality, embrace the opportunity! I would tell you more, but I fear that I may have already told you too much as I sit here and listen to Huey Lewis on my very modern day FM radio.
All We Need is 1.21 GigaWatts
