Rough weekend, reeeeeealy rough. Hate watching Bucks get embarrassed, and I’ve seen it a lot on my time. Let me list the ones most seared into my psyche;
1) Stanford in Rose Bowl 1970 season. Super Sophs senior season and unbeatable team….. gets Plunked (no typo) by Stanford 27-10 I think Broke my 11 year old heart. Was deep into Buckeyes since the victory over OJ 2 years prior and this was DEVASTATING!
2). USC in Rose Bowl after 72 season. Archie freshman year, probably in NC discussion with win….. 42-17!!! We got revenge next season (42-21) but this one hurt cuz my dad was stationed in SoCal and lots of Trojans to contend with
3) UCLA in Rose Bowl after 75 season. Archies senior season post 2nd Heisman and sure NC with a win vs a team they drilled in September in LA…. 24-10 loss after leading 3-0 at half. Like Saturdays game should have had much bigger lead at intermission. Owned them but couldn’t punch in…..I remember my dad for two things that day….. predicting the outcome due to not taking advantage in 1st half ( “ Not good when your best shot can’t knock them out, we haven’t seen theirs yet”) and breaking the TV in 4th qtr. I also apparently told my best friend to leave cuz he was trying to give UCLA some credit (don’t remember that)
4) Bama in Sugar Bowl after 77 season (maybe 76 season) Bear vs Woody……… Bear in a rout…. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
5) Michigan in 76 (22-0) Michigan in 93, 95
6) Florida 2006, Clemson 2016, Iowa 2017 Purdue 2018
So, we’ve been here before with all our great past coaches and we’ve come back pretty quickly every time. This can’t be and won’t be forgotten or swept under rug. The staff and players need to process and grow from this but we should NOT over react
This team might still get a playoff spot and Day is right… they could be very dangerous….. they have as high a ceiling as anyone.
You guys know when the last time a team lost their last game before selection Sunday by 3 possessions and were torched with deep balls all day? Last year by the eventual champions
i was angry, hurt, embarrassed etc but we have to see the unvarnished truth…. good teams, even eventual championship teams (2021/22 UGA) can look terrible against their nemesis one week and when given a second chance they can do a 180 Sports are great for that.
Tom Brady and his 18-0 Patriots had not been kept within 14 all season (unheard of in NFL) were in a rematch with a team they D E S T R O Y E D a few weeks earlier….. u know the story
We are hurt, angry, befuddled, disillusioned, confused and some of us are coming around to other states.
There are legitimate questions to ask about how all that occurred on Saturday and I’m sure Day an company were asking them at 4:00 Saturday….but that does not have to be the last word on us.
im glad to have Day at this time. He needs to assess and I am confident he will …… and I hope he gets another chance at Michigan this year I wasn’t there on Saturday AT ALL! I was done with them but I know good coaches and athletes can never take that approach
