There’s no way to sugarcoat it, yesterday sucked. We completely dominated them statistically in the first half, but two big plays and a lack of offensive execution kept us from pulling out to a huge early lead. It should have been 24-3 early in the second. Obviously this is an alarming trend, I was in my teens the last time we lost to that team two years in a row and it hurts. As many have said, it’s as bad a loss as Florida in 06 or Clemson in 16.

Clearly there are calls for Days job and total revamping of the program etc., which I understand. With some time to reflect, I’m attempting to put things in perspective. Alabama, the most dominate program in history with the top coach in the country, has two losses, won’t win their division or make the playoffs. Clemson, arguably the second best program in the last decade, has two losses, and while they may win their conference, wont make the playoffs. TTUNs fan base was far angrier at Harbaugh than we are today after an 0-5 start against us, his many flirtations with the league, etc. They are likely going to win the conference for a second straight year after completely dethroning us as the top dog, have a very good chance to make and possibly (gross) even win the national championship.

Are changes needed? Clearly. Day needs to give up playcalling, marotti should probably be replaced, we have got to hit the transfer portal for some lockdown corners and for gods sake they have to start playing the ball instead of face guarding. As for replacing the entire staff? Ya, no. I get it, I’ve heard the arguments that “who wouldn’t want this job” etc. How’s that working out for Texas? Miami? FSU? Florida? Does losing to ttun suck? Absolutely. Would losing to them suck worse if we make a terrible coaching hire, or two, or three over the next 10-12 years and end up as the next blue blood program consistently going 6-6, 7-5 yearly? I’d argue yes, and anyone who thinks that couldn’t happen here is delusional. While Day doesn’t have endless time to right the ship, blowing the whole thing up tomorrow would be reckless. Just my .02.
