I thought it would be better as a new thread than this getting lost in the original thread. The whole narrative that Henderson was forecasting running plays and when he was getting the ball is false. I thought he was doing it myself when watching the game I real-time but then I rewatched it and paused every snap. Here is the break down:
First Drive first half
Trey had mouthguard in whole drive.
- 1st play PI.
- 2nd play 2 yard run it’s IN.
- 3rd play pass to Marv. IN
- 4th play 3rd &1 4 yrd run for 1st IN
- 5th play pas to Marv Inc IN
- 6th Play he take it to house IN looks like he comes up in pain on sidelines
Second drive it isn’t in at all
- 1st play after delay of game run to right NOT IN
- 2nd play inc to Ebuka NOT IN.
- 3rd play Inc to Ebuka NOT IN
3rd drive NOT IN whole drive
- 1st play fumble between him and Stroud, NOT IN
- 2nd play Rb flare gets called back for foul start NOT IN.
- 3rd play Run to left NOT IN
- 4th play CJ scrambles NOT IN
4th drive start of 2nd quarter. NOT IN at all
- 1st play Run to him mouthpiece NOT IN
- 2nd play, PA pass to Marv that ends up getting reversed, mouth piece NOT IN.
- 3rd play pass to Fleming, Not IN
- 4th play, run to him for 4 yards, mouthpiece NOT IN.
- 5th play pass to Ebuka for 1st NOT IN.
- 6th play PA pass which end up incomp to him, NOT IN
- 7th play of drive run to right, mouthpiece NOT IN
- 8th play Hayden comes in, first down to Ebuka.
- 9th play PA pass that looked like a interception but gets reversed, NOT IN
- 9th play pass to Marv, NOT IN
- 10th play of drive run to right, NOT IN
- 11th play pass out of bounds NOT IN
- 12th play incomplete to Marv, NOT IN
5th drive. Whole drive seems to be IN
- first play, run to left mouthpiece IN, he comes up limping.
- 2nd play starts off run to left but he to bounce right, he puts it IN right before the snap.
- 3rd play cross route to Ebuka, can’t tell if it’s in or not.
He then gets replaced by Hayden rest of drive.
In fact he isn’t in rest of the game for one more snap when CJ takes the intentional grounding.
IN CONCLUSION: Henderson ended up playing a total of 5 drives in which he had 11 Carries. He only had his mouthpiece on the first drive and his last drive. Out of his 11 carries he had his mouth piece IN for 4 out of the 11 Carrie’s for 36% of the time. He played 5 drives in while he inserted his mouthpiece 2 of those drives for 40% of the time. If anything this would indicate a tendency that he doesn’t put in his mouthpiece when he’s going to get the ball.
I know it’s the tendency to make snap hot takes and pile on a player that fans don’t think are playing well. But, I think this proves to the point how many false narratives can be created by not rewatching the game and how dangerous it is for fans to accept those false narratives and call for players benching, transfers , coaches and analysts firings. There was a thread earlier this week about the amount of negativity on this board. I hope this offers some prospective for people to take a deep breath and maybe rewatch the game when their not so emotional so they can truly see the facts and what’s going on each play
