Before Tommy Eichenberg's pick-6 just before half, I had Urban Meyer's all three phases of the Buckeyes' game, ranked as follows:
1. Special Teams
2. Defense
3. Offense
Thanks to Ferentz-facilitated Tressel Ball, the Bucks converted field position into 12 points via 4 field goals.
But, Eichenberg's INT was a harbinger for the D, which nabbed 6 turnovers and 5 sacks, along with notting a tie with the vaunted Hawkeye defense, in the scoring column.
The Buckeye D was awesome today. Silver Bullet-status may be conferred upon it, someday.
The special teams were also...awesome. As much as we focus on the D, we tend to pay far less attention to special teams. But, this unit has developed into a reliable unit of kickers, tacklers (They snuffed a fake punt, today!) and another scoring option. Don't doubt that the D and special teams might collaborate to preserve a Buckeye victory, this season.
The offense gets the most attention on this Buckeye team. What got my attention was how the coaches and players adjusted to and overpowered the Hawkeye defense. The Buckeye offense stumbled out of the gate. But it gained its balance and demonstrated its explosive capabilities.
I grade all three phases, as follows:
Defense: A
Special Teams: A
Offense: B
How do you grade or rank all three phases?
