There were a couple of moments in tonight’s broadcast that made allusions to this. Fowler mentioned the TV contract and Herbie had his family in the booth. The playback of Keith Jackson saying “the Horseshoe down by the Olentangy.” Looking back, it kind of seemed like it was ABC/ESPN’s goodbye to the Horseshoe. 
 

I know folks have their opinions of Fowler and Herbstreit, but if this was it, it is the end of an era. ABC broadcasted many Buckeyes games at the Horseshoe through the years. You could argue that the first time a lot of people heard Columbus or something about Columbus was hearing “the Horseshoe down by the Olentangy.” It put Columbus on the map from some cowtown to the big city it is today.
