Ohio State's first outgoing transfer following the end of its 2020 season is coming from a walk-on linebacker.
Ben Schmiesing, who spent the past three seasons with the Buckeyes, announced Wednesday on Twitter that he will continue his collegiate career at the University of Dayton as a graduate transfer after he graduates from Ohio State this spring.

A product of Piqua, Ohio, Schmiesing made three game appearances over the past two seasons, all at the end of blowout wins. His only seven snaps on defense came at the end of the Buckeyes' 73-14 win over Maryland in 2019, in which he recorded his only career tackle.
By transferring to the FCS level, though, Schmiesing will have an opportunity to compete for more playing time.
