The Heisman trophy needs to be voted on AFTER THE SEASON IS OVER!

Voting for the most prestigious individual award before the biggest games of the season have even played, makes no sense.

Justin Fields should be going into this NC game with a realistic shot at acquiring the hardware. If he puts up another performance like he did in the Sugar Bowl, and leads his team to a victory over the Crimson Tide, then Justin Fields heisman candidacy should the boost and a flood of votes coming in on his name.

Shining on the biggest stages in the biggest moments is what matters. Not padding stats against cupcakes. Legacies are defined in talent equated games when the stakes are highest, not padding stats against cupcakes.

But the Heisman is still stuck in the stone ages. Rendering itself largely as a pointless mid-season award. Voted on by sportswriters who compare stats compiled by great players on juggernaut teams that steamroll familiar regular season opponents. The outcomes of the games are largely predictable, with the only question being how long into the thrashing before the HC calls off the dogs?

The truly heroic and heisman worthy performances occur after the votes for the award have already been cast. Smh. This is a disgrace.

Talent equated games with championships on the line. Not comparing blowouts and spreadsheets of tOSU padding stats vs Purdue, Alabama padding stats vs Vandy, and Clemson padding stats vs Wake. What does that prove or resolve?

Let’s wait until the cream has fully risen to the top, and then rate the competitors at the end of the year.

Any and all Heisman votes cast before the conclusion of the National Championship game, should be void and disqualified. Measure the complete body of work! Not interested in PPG avg against mediocre competition. I want to see who really shines & doesn’t fade in the bright light!

How can the Heisman trust be this stupid? Reminds me of how the AP used to vote for a National Champion BEFORE the bowl games were played.. Ha! The mere thought of something so asanine seems laughable but they did it for years. ‘Tradition’.
Thankfully the AP voters evolved and decided to wait until ALL the games have been played before voting on a National Champion... what a noble concept!

Hopefully the Heisman Trust wakes up someday and decides to do the same thing, that way they can start handing the Trophy for Most Outstanding College Football Player: to the most deserving, most memorable, and correct person.
