IDEA TO INCLUDE BIG 10/PAC 12 IN THE CFP

This is an idea based on hope, as a Buckeye fan. But you would also think that the CFP committee, and country as a whole, would like to see all conferences represented in the quest for a national championship, like every year. And it still allows the CFP to hold their playoff in January, as they want. Here goes:

---At the end of the SEC, Big 12, and ACC seasons, the committee picks 3 of the 4 CFP teams in whatever way they deem fit.

---The 4th team is a single representative from the Big 10 and Pac 12. Each conference puts forth one team in whatever way they see fit, probably by preseason rankings. This year, it's pretty clear that Ohio St and Oregon would be picked.

---The week before the CFP starts, Ohio St and Oregon play each other. The winner advances to the CFP. The following week, the final 4 play, and the week after, the title game. This means OSU or Oregon have to play one more game in the CFP, but that is fair as it allows the other 3 teams coming off 10-game seasons to get another week of rest while OSU and Oregon play. There will probably already be a few weeks break between the end of the regular season and the playoffs anyway, so they will be fully rested.

---If one of the 3 teams that the CFP picked from the SEC, Big 12, and ACC wins the CFP, they are declared national champion, and that's the end of it. However, if Ohio St/Oregon win the CFP, they are PENDING national champion, and then play their regular season in the winter/spring. Here are the possibilities:

---OSU/Oregon go 10-0 in their regular season...they are declared national champion.

---OSU/Oregon goes 9-1...two options...still declared national champion because everybody lost at least one game so they get the tiebreaker for winning the CFP, or declared co-national champ with the team that they defeated in the CFP national championship game.

---OSU/Oregon goes 8-2...eliminated, and the team that they defeated in the national title game is declared national champion.

This is a little odd, but it's an odd season, and this is a good way to keep college football at peak national interest for a loooong time (September-March). Imagine if Ohio St beat Bama in the CFP title game...Alabama fans (and the SEC in general) would watch all 10 OSU Big 10 games praying for a loss or two. And it would allow Big 10/Pac 12 fans to actually enjoy watching the fall seasons from the other 3 conferences, instead of being disgusted as we all feel right now. I'm sure you can poke some holes in this...I haven't thought about it for hours. One "hole" might be a team like Penn St not getting picked to represent the Big 10 in the game against Oregon, then going 10-0, including beating Ohio St. Then maybe you could make them the co-national champ with whoever OSU beat in the national title game. This way every team still has a chance to play for something. I like this...this requires almost no effort to happen...everyone plays their season as already scheduled, and the CFP occurs as already scheduled. All that is needed is for the CFP to want to include all conferences (as they should) and open up that 4th spot.
