Since they’ve announced an all decade football team to match the basketball version they just wrapped up, I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone had any bold predictions for who might or might not show up on the lists.
I’d expect a heavy flavor of Ohio State quarterbacks, but there is always Russel Wilson to consider too.
I’m not overly optimistic to see much Ohio State representation at the RB position with Wisconsin having 2 repeat winners of the Ameche-Dayne and Saquon Barkley getting it twice. Kind of seems like a crime to leave off Hyde, Elliot or Dobbins.
Despite all the recent highs of receiver play and Michael Thomas taking names in the NFL, I’ll be surprised if there isn’t a wide variety of other teams here.
Tight Ends will probably end up with some kind of Jake Butt and Devin Funchess combination.
At OL I hope Pat Elflein and Billy Price get some attention, but it almost figures to feature Taylor Lewan and “Generic Wisconsin Linemen”. Iowa has had some success here too.
Frankly, if there aren’t 4 OSU D Ends, I’ll be pretty disappointed. Chase Young and the Bigger Bosa should be the class. Nick Bosa and Tyquan Lewis should get some love too, but I kind of think Ryan Kerrigan should get some recognition from early in the decade.
Linebackers will have to be something like Chris Borland and Lavonte David.
The Defensive back position would also figure to be pretty Ohio State heavy with the amount of talent that came through in this decade, but looking at past winners of the Tatum Woodson award, things don’t look optimistic.
Special Teams will be interesting because the people who vote on stuff like this, don’t usually know much about specialists.
Anyhow, it’ll be interesting if anyone can come up with snub predictions or some kind of interesting position group combinations.
