As we all wait for the football season to begin and spend our days tracking developments and watching how the roster fills out, how do Buckeye fans perceive the 2019 team "on paper," whether compared to other Buckeye teams in other years "on paper," or else top teams around the country?

To get the discussion rolling, for what it’s worth, 24 of Ohio State’s 100 highest-ranked recruits are on the 2019 roster, and overall, 58 of the Buckeye's top 250 recruits can be found on this year’s roster.

For a full list, see the following link: https://247sports.com/college/ohio-state/Sport/Football/AllTimeRecruits/

If you ask me, those are pretty darned impressive numbers, and by most accounts, they can be attributed to three things:

1) National rankings are a bit misleading since they’ve only been around for a couple of decades (i.e., they don’t include recruits in the past century);

2) Urban Meyer obviously had a fabulous track record as a recruiter and as a coach, and the 2019 roster reflects this success;

3) Elite programs (OSU, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, etc.) have increasingly and progressively dominated the top spots for recruiting rankings.

In any case, there’s no denying that the Buckeyes roster is absolutely loaded with enough talent to win a National Championship in 2019, provided the coaches and players bring their A games (or, more likely, A+).

On a related note, while we righty celebrate the 2014 squad, we also know their roster featured at least as much talent in 2015, and yet, they didn’t manage to win the Big Ten, which tells us that championships are all about the right chemistry at the right time and guys stepping up big.

At any rate, an argument can be made that this year’s roster is at least as loaded “on paper” as 2014... or do you disagree?.

Of course, performance on the field will be the ultimate judge, but for now, all we can do is a "paper" comparison, so... how do people either "feel about," analyze, rate and/or compare this year's roster and how it stacks up, whether as a whole, or in certain positions or units, etc.?
