Columbus, OH (WCMH) - Grant Reed, the boy who loved the Buckeyes and fought cancer by labelling his disease "Michigan," has died this morning.
Reed was equally beloved by the Buckeyes, and was visited by the former Head Coach Urban Meyer in the hospital.
Jerod Smalley, NBC4's Sports Director, wrote when he learned of the news: "I can’t tell you how upsetting this is to write. Our friend, Grant Reed, passed this morning.
"After several bouts with cancer over the course of nearly a decade, he’s finally at peace. He fought “Michigan” and never lost. Never. Spare a kind thought for his family."
I remember this story, back in the Hoke/Meyer Era. For a background.
