** Grinch in or out? … It looks like things are starting to take shape on Ryan Day’s new Ohio State coaching staff. There are still some loose pieces fitting together on defense.
We got a call from an Oklahoma source last night. It went like this:
“We are hearing that Lincoln Riley is all set to hire Alex Grinch as his new defensive coordinator,” the source said. “It’s looking like it is all but a done deal. Pete Golding was also in the discussion, but looks like Grinch is who Riley wants.”
OK, on this end it appears that Grinch would stay if he is given the full title of defensive coordinator with Greg Schiano leaving. It’s unclear, however, if Day has settled on one or the other … or if he can broker a truce and keep them all together for at least one more year.
