While I am still firmly in the camp of those who believe JT should be starting and running the read-option, I think I have finally come to terms with why it is not that way.
A perfect storm of events that includes: JT not being healed enough for spring ball reps, Tom Herman's departure, the loss of Heuerman and Spencer as blockers, and Cardale's solid if not somewhat spectacular Trilogy performance. Not to mention the fight against complacency.
All of these things made it reasonably clear that the team's best chance to win was to plug in CJ, ease away from the read-option, and suffer 5 or 6 games full of growing pains. And hope that everything is fixed by the time November comes calling.
Huge risk, but I understand the call (even if I disagree with it).
