I refuse to pay for BTN+ and haven't had a lot of free time to watch basketball, so I can't say I've seen much of the conference teams playing so far (less than I ever have at this point, tbh), but I thought I'd go ahead and start this thread for anyone who wants to share their thoughts on other teams in our conference and the upcoming conference games not involving OSU.
I did get to see most of Purdue at Alabama last night, very good win for Purdue. Purdue is an interesting mix of strong, skilled, and slow, haha. Not a lot of athleticism in their core rotation, but Purdue looked very good at imposing their will in that game, or at least imposing their will to the level they needed to in order to win the game -- Alabama simply could not speed them up enough to gain an advantage with their better athleticism. I am not sure how much upside Purdue has to improve over where they're already at, but Mayer and Jacobsen both did some good things, so if those two can continue to show well and earn more minutes, it might raise the ceiling even higher for the Boilermakers. In particular, I think it would behoove Painter to really get Mayer to the place where he can split minutes with Loyer or at least make it easier to sit Loyer a bit more. Loyer's a great asset when he's hot from outside, but he's often a liability overall when he's not.
But yeah, haven't had a chance to watch any of the other B1G teams play yet, so curious what some of y'all's first impressions are of our conference foes this season.
