Thought it would be interesting to have a thread about oddities that have or are occurring in college basketball this year. Was initially prompted by Rutgers being in the tournament despite having only 1 victory away from home this year. Not sure thats ever occurred. It may not this year because while I think Rutgers is in, if they don't win another game, they will be sweating it out next weekend.
Other odd things about this season.
- On 11/12, Kentucky was ranked #1 and lost to mid major Evansville. Evansville went on to post a 0-18 record in conference and lost their opening round tourney game. Can't say I've ever seen a team beat the #1 ranked team in the nation and not win a single game in their conference.
- UCLA is currently tied for first in the P12, yet are squarely on the bubble. Remains to be seen how the next week plays out, but its conceivable that a major conference regular season champion could miss the NCAA tourney. Doubt that has happened since the tourney went to a 64/68 team field.
