According to an interview with Good Morning America and an article from ESPN, Paige Shiver, the former TCUN staffer who had an affair with former TCUN coach Sherrone Moore, claims that TCUN was aware of their relationship.

According to her, the affair was an "open secret" within the athletic department. She claimed that Moore "controlled everything that was going on" in her life "and they didn't do anything about it". She also claims that she was frequently instructed by other members of the TCUN coaching staff to speak to Moore in order to "calm him down when he was upset"... which even included during the halftime of games.

Per Shiver, she went along with this because she feared for her job security. "No one cared about my feelings", she said. "They wanted to use me to help him so that they could get through the season. He and other coaches had control over my career, especially him. He could fire me in a second."

She claims that she attempted to end the affair multiple times, but Moore would use manipulation tactics, including threatening suicide, to prevent her from doing so. "Every time I tried to pull away, he always had a story," she said. "Always a way to pull me in and make me feel that I couldn't leave him because he was so miserable without me."

Shiver also said that Moore got her pregnant in 2022, when Jim Harbaugh was still the head coach of TCUN, but doctors advised her to end the pregnancy due to health concerns, something that Moore encouraged.

Ultimately, despite the affair and Moore's manipulation of her being common knowledge, when asked during an internal investigation this past fall, Shiver denied their relationship because she didn't trust TCUN and feared retaliation from the school. "They knew the things that he was doing to me, and no one did anything about it because they cared more about winning football games, not having another scandal, and trying to protect the head coach."
