If Alabama is at #10, sandwiched between Miami and ND, this would put a buffer between Miami and ND, preventing the head to head comparison in the eyes of the committee. Miami is out.

Alabama on the other hand can't lay an egg like that and not expect repercussions, especially with 3 losses, two of them to teams with a combined 11 losses. Alabama is out.

Notre Dame lost to 2 of the 3 games they played against ranked teams. They lost head to head against Miami. Notre Dame is out.
