Today Athlon Sports discussed how they think there may be a “cover curse” in line with the Madden cover curse. If you think about it, this makes a ton of sense. Quinn Ewers, one of the athletes, went in the 7th round after previously being projected in the middle rounds. Donovan Edwards, everyone’s favorite star running back, went undrafted after being placed on the cover. It seems we may have to worry about Ryan Day and Jeremiah Smith being hit next year after their leaked appearance on the cover of CFB 26.
That is, until you use your brain for half of a second and realize that the third athlete, Travis Hunter, won the Heisman, every major award he was nominated for, and got drafted #2. It turns out there’s no conspiracy after all, just a declining running back who was never very good in the first place and a quarterback who prioritized short term gain over long term growth.
