Just a few days before kickoff, trouble has struck State College.

Former team doctor Dr. Scott A. Lynch is suing the Penn State and James Franklin, claiming Franklin pressured him to medically clear injured players to return to action, Matt Miller of Penn Live reports.

In a lawsuit filed in Dauphin County Court, Lynch alleges that Franklin attempted to influence his decisions regarding the availability of injured players on multiple occasions.

The lawsuit also claims that after his complaints, Penn State officials removed him from his positions of Orthopedic Physician for the football team and Director of Athletic Medicine for the university, violating his rights as a whistle blower. He is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.

No statement has been made on by or on behalf of James Franklin at this time.
