Just like when Bert Bielema fled Wisconsin to be among his ancestors in the hills of the Ozarks, Barry Alavarez was once again left holding the bag when Gary Andersen bolted Wisconsin for Corvalis, Oregon.
Wisconsin, meanwhile, has a New Year's Day date scheduled with the Auburn Tigers in the Outback Bowl. So, just like when Bert Bielema fled Wisconsin, Barry Alvarez will once again return to the sidelines to coach Wisconsin in its bowl game.
The last time we saw Alvarez on Wisconsin's sidelines it was on New Year's Day in 2013 against Stanford in the Rose Bowl. Wisconsin lost that game, 20-14.
