If there was ever a time when the stars were aligned perfectly to flip somebody, this is it. New staff at PSU which creates an unknown and their star recruiter leaves for OSU. Strike while the chance is there.
I'd love for it to happen but I'm doubtful it will. Dude seems pretty happy with happy valley.
Football is complicated...
We have a good groups of TE for next year and at least one of them will be around for a couple more years.I would like the effort to shift to the O line and D L.
"I'm still firmly committed to Penn St. The only other school I really talk to is Ohio St. I like the people at OSU, but I'm still committed to Penn St. Just trying to get a feel for where that program (PSU) is heading." - Mike Gesicki
With Urban all flips are possible!
He's committed, but leaving the door slightly open. That's what I got from it.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
I said yes, because something good has to happen eventually in 2014 right??
A lot of good things has happened this year on the recruiting front
Ill say he has about a 65% chance of flipping him with Larry on the staff now but we will have to take a wait and see seat in the back of the room.
Don't think LJSr had/has anything to do with Gesicki or they would have sent him with Tim Hinton. I think he prefers PSU and that is fine, he wants to play with Hackenburg etc. We will be fine without him. If for some reason he changes his mind though, that is definitely fine with me. Can never have too many good players.
Only if Franklin declares between now and NSD that his intention is to move away from pro style passing offense. With Hackenburg that is an attractive offense for a TE. Ohio State does not have a history of featuring the TE. I would not rule UFM out on a recruiting battle and it would be nice to see him as a Buckeye, but that looks like a good fit for the kid at PSU as long as he doesn't hate their new hire. He will have to live with deep regret at least one day a year for the next 4.
Voted yes....I am prepared for Urban's last-minute surprises this year.
I am not very smart, but I recognize that I am not very smart.
When OSU passes the football to the TE, then great TE propects will consider Ohio State.
But if your QB only looks at the primary receiver and the safety valve receiver (why can't this be a TE?), this allows recruiters at other school to chant "Ohio State never (or hardly ever) throws to the TE." With stats to back that up.
Our honor defend, we will fight to the end !
If you can't win your conference, just quietly accept your non-playoff bowl game.
90% of 247's predictions are OSU
Most of these were old, before he committed, but there are some very recent OSUs on there
Good thing I'm not a recruiter, but I'd take that Njoku kid for my TE ...
The postgame show is brought to you by... Christ, I can't find it. The hell with it...
Agreed. Gesicki is tweeting 'WEARE" on everything'. Keeping the door open is a good thing but I would put the effort in Njoku. It could be that is what they are doing.
Franklin and his staff are arm and arm with mike tonight and mike is happy about it. I think Birm is right it's a done deal.
Gesicki made a tough choice between 2 teams and seems like the kind of guy that is loyal to his commitment, no matter what.
You've got to do your own growing, no matter how tall your grandfather was. - Irish proverb
He's only a 4 star according to Scout, Rivals, ESPN, 247, and 247composite, which site lists him as a 5 star?
I've spent time in the South, I don't care what anybody says they don't have the passion for football that us Ohioans have.
I don't mean "only" a 4 star, that's still a very high ranking, just curious which service has him as a 5 star
I wish the offense would use the tight end more. With lack of production from the receivers you would think to get them the ball and give you another threat. So I wouldn't be to terribly upset if they did miss out of this kid cause I wouldn't want another good talent not being utilized.
Just wait, this year is gonna be Stoneburner's year. He's gonna do big things!
