Carlos Hyde Thought He'd Be a Brown

After the Browns traded the corpse of Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a first round pick (and signed the corpse of Willis McGahee to replace him), the Browns had a need, among other things, at running back.

Carlos Hyde was taken in the second round of the NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers — one pick after Cincinnati took LSU's Jeremy Hill.

Hyde, however, thought there was a real chance he could have ended up playing professional ball in Cleveland:

In the end, the Browns moved up in the third round to poach Towson's Terrance West — another big ol' running back — from the Baltimore Ravens.

It would have been fun cheering for Hyde as a Cleveland Brown. I was hoping for this marriage, but alas, it wasn't to be.

As a Browns fan, I would have loved to see El Guapo play in Cleveland but I can't really complain about the draft we had. San Francisco is a great organization and Hyde will have a chance to win immediately.

CARLOS HYDE THOUGHT HE'D BE A BROWN

So did the rest of us. Stupid Browns.

As someone who is going to really enjoy cheering for Heyward and Shazier on Sundays, I'm glad this didn't happen.

Ryan Shazier just feels like a Steeler and I honestly mean that in a good way. I cringe thinking about seeing Manziel scambling out of the pocket with Shazier loading up for a big hit.

Tom, I'm with you. I definitely would have liked to see Carlos in black and gold.

It would have been nice, but the Browns needed to solidify the OL.

Yeah, well…that’s just like, your opinion, man.

Which is what they did instead of picking Hyde. Can't complain. Also, we just signed Ben Tate in the offseason, who's a similar type of player to Hyde who has already proven how explosive he can be (maybe 200+ yards against Cleveland 2 years ago or at least it felt that way) and Terrance West provides a change-up to Tate.

If I did the draft again, I'd pick Bitonio over Hyde again.

Short life running behind that O-Line, El Guapo.  You're better off.

I'd have liked to see him in Cleveland too, but on the bright side, he was able to reduce his odds of contracting staph by like 70%

I never thought Carlos would be a Brown.  That would've made too much sense.  That said, I was pretty pleased with the Browns' draft, even being skeptical about Johnny.

Can't hate too hard on the Browns but leading up to the draft I thought they'd take Sammy 1st Johnny 2nd and El Guapo 3rd they had the opportunity to get all three but had other plans.

Buffalo's offer was too good to pass up. Like trading Richardson for a 1st rounder which became Johnny Footbaw

He should've went to the Bengals. I mean he was literally right there, fell into their laps in the second round, and instead they take this con out of LSU. The Bengals have drafted well in the last few years, but not picking Hyde was a mistake.

Forget the Browns, dude should be a Bengal.  I mean, 2nd round...Bengals pick a RB...Carlos is available...Carlos is not the RB they picked.  They get that thug Jeremy Hill.  Granted, Hill is a good back regardless of what you think of him personally, but I wanted to see Carlos in orange and black.  Not in red and gold, not in orange and brown, ORANGE AND BLACK.

Class of 2010.

I had hope El Guapo would've been a Brown or a Bengal but like Earle said, that would've made too much sense. Stupid Cincy and Cleveland pro teams.

3rd and 2?

Give it to Hyde twice!

The Browns could have had Shazier or Hyde yet settled for Johnny Football. This is more proof just about the only thing for sure the they will do right on draft day is make the wrong selection.

Nothing would have made me happier to see El Guapo as a Brown. It would have been cool keeping one of my favorites in-state. However, SF fits his playing style better but I wonder how much longer he will have to sit behind a workhorse like Gore.
