Kenny Guiton Joins Arena League's LA KISS

By Ramzy Nasrallah on June 3, 2014 at 7:43p

The LA KISS have been assigned former Ohio State quarterback Kenny Guiton, the League office announced todayThe Kiss could certainly use Guiton's help, as they're currently on a seven game losing skid.

Kenny G left Buffalo Bills rookie camp last month looking to start his professional football career somewhere. The hero of the Improbable Purdue Comeback of 2012 and Destroyer (note: Deliberate KISS pun) of Florida A&M will be looking to do just that in the Arena League this season.

The KISS plays in the West Division of the National Conference of the Arena Football League and is owned by Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley (top left, bottom right in the photo above) as well as their manager Doc McGhee. They play in Anaheim's Honda Center when the Mighty Ducks aren't busy using it for hockey.

Now he's at least got a leg up on George Whitfield...

a $30k a year arena league salary is going to be tough to live on in LA, especially with a child. But this will be a good resume builder if for some odd reason Kenny doesn't pan out to make the next Kurt Warner jump from arena to NFL super bowler.

Rock on!  Kenny G will lead KISS to many wins!!

Go Bucks!

Congrats Kenny G!  This would be great just to hang with Gene, Paul, Ace, Peter and the gang.  Kiss was my first concert back in 1977 (open seating insanity back then before the Who concert in Cincy put an end to it) standing right in front of Gene shouting out loud.  Rock on Kenny, Go Bucks!

Well, I certainly HOPE that he's hanging out with "Gene, Paul, Ace, Peter and the gang," but it's my understanding that Ace and Peter aren't exactly welcome.

Congrats on seeing KISS live in their prime.  My Dad told me he shot some photos at one of their concerts...and the members were 1/4-inch tall blobs in the pictures.  =)   The band certainly deserves their place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

And I OBVIOUSLY wish the best for Kenny G.  He's one of my favorite Buckeyes...very good young man...lights-out on the field...dealt with adversity in a positive manner...what else could you want?

I'm kinda twisted about this... Was hoping to see him go onto greater heights, but I'm not one to judge.  The world is a better place to even have Kenny in it.

Ramzy, on an unrelated note, come on over the river to Manhattan so that I can treat you to some bourbon or scotch and a nice Cuban.

Are you sure the "Cubans" weren't rolled by Dominicans?

Congrats to Kenny!  I hoped he would land a backup job in the NFL, but I hope he enjoys what he does in the AFL or eventually coaching.

Just to give people some info on this, I used to work for an AFL team, and still follow the league when I can.

This is the first year for the LA Kiss. The majority of AFL contracts are 1 year contracts, so they very well could have put together a decent team; however, they do not have a good team at all. They do; however, have the AFL version of the mix between Brett Favre and Vinny Testaverde in a guy by the name of Aaron Garcia. He is 43 that is one of the better QB's of the league, but has also has probably played for more AFL teams than he hasn't. Garcia has played only in a couple games after being traded for, and he has absolutely been destroyed due to having a terrible OL in front of him. Not something I want Kenny G walking into. Also, this QB has a reputation of being a prima donna and only willing to play for cash under the table. So, unfortunately, I do not see Kenny starting in front of Garcia.

I could go on about the league, but don't want to bore anybody. However; I personally think going back to tOSU, taking grad classes and being a grad assistant would be a much better decision for Guiton. If anybody has any questions on the league, team, etc. I'd definitely be willing to answer.

Signing Kenny could mean that they're tired of Garcia's act and ready to try someone different.

Possibly, but I doubt it because the Kiss just traded for Garcia. He has also only played in only two games, so I imagine it'll take longer for them to get tired. They wouldn't be the first to get tired of him.

Well this is bittersweet.  On the one hand, I'm happy that Kenny landed a job in professional football.  He deserves it.  On the other hand, this Kiss organization is being run by a douchebag of Biblical proportions.  I had the misfortune of working with him for 3 years and he's, quite literally, one of the worst human beings to grace this Earth.  I wish Kenny the best.  Can't say the same for this organization.

I dunno if you're referring to Gene Simmons, but one of the happiest afternoons of my life was spent listening live to his interview on Fresh Air.  (Yes, I know that's sad.)  While I certainly don't agree with Gene's comments, boy, do I love that he said lots of interesting things.

Thats great for a former high school football player, it must be kind of fun for him to bounce around and get paid to play ball, even if he is just a practice player. He always has a degree from OSU to fall back on. Enjoy life KG
