Former Ohio State forward LaQuinton Ross will sign in Italy with Victoria Libertas, according to a report from Sportando Friday afternoon.

Ross, who left the Buckeyes after his junior season, was unselected in the NBA Draft in June.

While the 6-foot-8, 220-pound sharpshooter led Thad Matta's squad with 15.2 points a game, questions lingered about his work ethic when he entered the NBA combine fatter than any other player in May.

My first thought is, "nice move leaving early only to have to go to Europe".  We could always use a scorer like him

Then my brain kicks in and reminds me he is probably making $300,000+/yr.  I make  a pretty nice salary and that is mulitples above what I make.  Sure as hell can't fault anyone for maximizing what they can earn.

Is he the only one who didn't see that coming? Regardless, I hope he tears it up over there.

I was looking at the people in the stands, and I would like to point your attention to the 'overweight' kid in the grey shirt in between the kids with purple on. I don't know about anyone else, but the outline of his... uhh... mass looks like a sad Homer Simpson face. The two eyes and a sad frownie face. Does anyone else see this, or am I going crazy?

Back on topic, good luck, Mr. Ross!!!

You can feed a bobcat all the chili it wants. That don't mean it's going to crap out diamonds.

I see it. Excellent observation.

Making 300K to play ball is a good deal, plus I think the teams over there pay for taxes, housing, etc. If he shines over there, he could make it back to the NBA. If not, he'll get to tour Europe for a few years and come back to the U.S. a millionaire. Not bad.

I've heard Germany makes a pretty good case.

It does.  Left Germany in 2012, loved it.  Easy transportation to multple countries within a couple hours drive.  Saw all of Italy, most of France, UK.  Another good thing the military does get right is overseas assignments.

Sir, folks in Korea in the summer would like to disagree.

Rome... Florence... Venice... those top three are tough to beat, unless of course germany uses Blitzkrieg tactics... then all bets off.

SIenna, Ovietto, Milan, Naples... Sicily... Italy is surrounded by Sea!

For centuries Rome has been trying to civilize germany... Germany will never get the Dolci Vita.  NEVER.  While Italy wil never start a meeting on time... trade offs....

Good for him. I think he has been thinking about this day almost since got to OSU and maybe before. Maybe that's why he looked disinterested at times. He got his pro contract and Thad got an open roster spot to fill with another player and we move on. Everyone should be happier.

Anyone know if he's signing with Amadeo's team?

Don't take this the wrong way, but I won't be one that says he should have stayed. I have a feeling that Q was part of the chemistry issue that we know was there last year. Good luck to him.

After getting his degree......and further polishing his skills  as a senior.......playing for Italy would have been the least he could expect.
