Don't Ask Mike Conley For Help with Your Bracket Next Year

By Jason Priestas on April 3, 2014 at 4:48p

However you feel about your own scorched bracket, there's a good chance it's better than the bracket Mike Conley submitted. In fact, I can almost guarantee you it's better.

Conley's bracket, featured on ESPN's Tournament Challenge, has a Final Four of Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Michigan State and Louisville, with the Buckeyes topping the Cardinals in the championship game. Prior to that, Conley saw just two of his Elite 8 picks survive. As such, his bracket ranks in the bottom 8.8% of the millions of brackets – including the many that were submitted empty – in ESPN's contest.

Look, we're all Ohio State fans around here, but you'd have to have been drinking the Craftberry Kool-Aid to pick this Buckeye team to win the tournament going into it.

It turns out a lot of the famous athletes and NBA stars have hilariously-bad brackets. Al Horford's bracket is at 38.6%, Stephen Curry sits at 33.6% and Elton Brand's bracket lingers in the bottom quartile. But Conley is on a level of stink all to himself.

Consider this: Hope Solo's bracket is in the top nine percent of all entries. Hell, Mad Money nut job Jim Cramer's bracket checks in at 78.6%.

So yeah, avoid Mike Conley's NCAA tournament picks, but don't you ever doubt his Ohio State fandom.

This is just homerism at its finest. No way was Ohio State going to make any deeper run than the sweet 16. I love Mike Conley, but this?.No way!

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, its a war room

Well they lost in the first round, so of course not.

"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

His picks are almost identical to my 8 year old daughters.  She loves her some Buckeyes.

The Bosh in the background really helps this one excel.

What is the point of filling out the Bracket and NOT having the Buckeyes going all the way!

Pretty funny. Though mine is pretty bad too. Had Kansas beating Duke in the NC.

I remember looking at his bracket during the opening weekend and just laughing.  In reality, I doubt he has time to really keep tabs on NCAA basketball.

Now I wish I would have filled one out just to see if I could have given Conley a run for his money.

Hooray for Mike Conley!  I usually fill out a scarlet colored one, and then another where the teams I hate the most go the furthest....of course that one did really well this year again...but Duke didn't hold up their end of the hate quotient bargain.

I picked OSU to win it all. I had OSU, MSU, Wisconsin and Louisville in the final four with OSU topping Wisky. Granted, I had some Scarlett colored glasses on when I chose. Funny thing is, I've had OSU winning every year for as long as I can remember (except in years they didn't make the tourney...)

I've only been filling them out for a few a years, but the only year I actually had the Buckeyes winning it all (and I was still hesitant) was the 2010-2011 team because I'd felt like they were legitimately the best team in the nation that year. Shame they couldn't get past Kentucky; just had a bad shooting game.

I appreciate the optimism.  I really, really do.  But I wasn't taking them any further in the Round of 32.  Of course, had this team beaten Dayton, they may have been able to get to the Elite 8.  That's the craziness of the tournament, haha.

Class of 2010.
