What do people do for New Year's Eve (countdown) in NOLA?  I did some preliminary google-ing and did not see much outside of a 15 min firework show and a few miscellaneous events.  I assume there is the typical French Quarter drunkenness debauchery that happens.

On that note, I have heard from several friends that NOLA has "the" best food in America, hands-down.  Any suggestions on good eats?
