On the Big Ten Network they referred to it as the 'Oklahoma drill', I didn't hear anyone call it 'hoot and holler' till people started writing about the game. I don't care what it was called, it was awesome. And I loved it. I don't know what you guys that were at the game could see from the stands, but on TV the action was great. The intensity was off the charts and God bless Kerry Coombs, he was in there yelling and screaming at guys to go all out.

Yeah, it's funny because even within the coaching ranks you may have different D1 coaches calling the same drill by different names, but here we are as commenters arguing about what it's called. :/
Well I'm 99% certain that its not the Hoot and Holler drill. Hoot and Holler lines up three offensive linemen (one being the center) vs. three defensive lineman. The quarterback hikes the ball from the center and hands it off to the running back, as a defensive coach simultaneously releases a linebacker/defensive back to get the running back if the d-linemen don't. The running back tries to score and the defense tries to stuff him.
I understand that the drill Urban did yesterday wasn't usually what you see from an Oklahoma drill, but it certainly was a variation of the Oklahoma drill, just without the aspect of a running back trying to get past the defender.
@Scott, I think I heard him say something like don't get on the ground, something along that lines in order to protect him and make sure he didn't hurt himself.
edit: After further review, I have no idea what he said lol, I'm guessing it was still something telling him not to get injured.
I believe Urban told Braxton to "stay up" as in dont go to the ground, therefore not endangering his two quarterbacks of injuring an ankle or knee. I also think he said the same thing to Guiton. I think Miller took the intial hit and though they were going to "bud up", Kenny on the other hand seemed to get a little carried away and drove through the contact, hence miller ending up on his butt. Even Urban's prerss conference response about how "you have to be careful and smart and sometimes he been accused of being neither," was telling. He wanted to get his guys fired up but im sure in the moment when Miller went down he was not exactly overjoyed. but no harm no foul
@T-HANE Miller didn't go down. He threw Guiton on his butt at the last second but I can see why you missed it - there was a lot of ruckus. Shazier isn't very big but damn is he mean! Sabino is a very physical player and Shazier owned him. The circle drill (or whatever you want to call it) was great and totally unexpected. Urban continues to make Buckeye football even more exciting.
I was at the game but I got their right when it started so I missed this. This was pretty awesome to watch. If the recruits were watching this you have to love it. The intensity was insane, Mewhort did a good job on Simon to, he held his ground.
Dispatch's video is much better than BTN's. Can hear Urban yelling the guys names out and everything.
Every coach was pumped, but probably none more so than Coombs.
Simon might be more pumped after he gets done with Mewhort, he looked like Coombs out there haha.
He calls for Ohrian Johnson, and they're trying to find CB - Christan Bryant? I feel like Bryant would destroy him haha but who knows. Then Shazier walks out there again LMAO.
If you look at the BTN's camera angle, Guiton gets into Braxton, but Miller sort of spins and throws him down. Then they got up and kind of pat each other on the helmet.
We got there in time to watch the lacrosse team drop 4 goals on Air Force. That drill was awesome. I think that had everyone in the stands pumped. Didnt expect Kenny G. to level Braxton like that though!
This vid got me ready to hit someone. So ready for 9/1.
Some brief spring game highlights
That drill before the game was spectacular to watch...got me pumped up, even. Urban is definitely a PR genius.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Kenny Gution!... Braxton Miller!

Just a small, friendly correction: I think this is the "Oklahoma" drill, not the "Hoot and Holler." There's a few differences between the two.

Jake, that is definitely not the Oklahoma drill.

Wow, Guiton WRECKED Miller!!!

Jake, I never said it was the Hoot & Holler.

It's essentially the Oklahoma drill except there is no blocking for a running back. This looks nothing like the hoot and holler drill. See here:

Haha! I love how Shazier said "Get Sabino ass out here!" these players are PUMPED. I can not wait until the fall.
Whatever it is called, it is #awesome
Let's just call it kickassery.
Take ownership of our version of it : The "OHKickAssIO"
We are now taking suggestions, gentleman.....
Jason - How about a Survey vote for the top 5 suggestions, with the winner being sent to UFM as our suggestion for the name of the drill?

Anyone catch what Urban said to Braxton?

Shazier is by far my favorite player in a long time.
"Bring Sabino ass out here!"
"Let me go again, coach!" Then when Urban waves him away he says (I think), "You always need me!"
Such a beast. Already sad to think he will probably leave early.
