"I'm like a phoenix, rising from Arizona!" – Frank Costanza
What do you do when you help co-found a band that would become one of the biggest bands in the history of music, then get kicked out for being a drunkardly ass and general jerkface just prior to recording your first album? Well, of course you just get your own gig, run it your own way, and create a successful 30+ year career of your own. Eazy-peazy. Such has been the career of Dave Mustaine, who after being jettisoned by the Metallica boys in 1983, soon formed Megadeth (along with long-time cohort Dave Ellefson) and is still going today, having released their 15th studio album earlier this year. And along the way for Mustaine there’s been drugs, booze, 17 trips to rehab, 7 different guitarists, 7 different drummers, lots of misbehavior, a bunch of Flying Vs, and born-again Christianity. But hey, that’s rock n roll. Happy 55th, Dave.
